it was easter and i had gone for work only after lunch, i waited patiently for the elevator to hit the 12th floor and as the door slid open, bump, straight into my project manager. he looked at me and goes 'hey eric!!! merry xmas!!' i was like 'what the!!!!"
flashback:
And on the 3rd day He rose again, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father, a belief or rather one of the most prominent stone slabs on which Christianity is built. and we celebrate Christ's ascension with great vigour every year on a day that is called "easter". there was a point when i couldnt relate easter to anything other than for easter bunnys and eggs. i remember the papers and magazines used to post pictures of some vibrant coloured easter eggs and i used to go haywire seeing them pestering my dad to get them coz i knew each egg is filled with some surprise apart from the chocolate. those were some days but now that i ve understood what easter is truly about, its withe even more vigour that i wait for it every year. another thing thats special about easter is that it marks the end of the 50day lent, where we abstain ourselves from meat. some people abstain from meat and chocolates, some may abstain from something else, its a period that we train ourselves to fight temptations. with all that said, what really surprised me was that nowadays newspapers dont post anything about festivals as they used to do as before. this time instead of easter eggs, some of the top headlines was that 'the unrest in middle east continues', yet another rape victim is denied her justice in asia and lindsay lohan ends up in jail again - a state of deja vu huh! theres so much happening in the world that festivals are no longer given any importance, im not just referring to easter, it was the same when it was diwali or any other festival for that matter. now it all makes so much sense to me, nobody is aware of anything any more other than for crimes or calamities and stocks. no wonder my boss came and told me 'merry xmas eric' instead of 'happy easter' un able to recover from the shock , i ended up telling him "seriously dude?!!" i caught him glaring when the elevator doors slid shut and i thought to myself ''oopsey!!! my days in this office are definitely gona be numbered from now on.....
anyways...Happy easter people!!!
